Buck, you will be missed

In memoriam...

On Friday, October 6, 2006, Buck O'Neill, of Negro League Baseball fame and a Kansas City legend, passed away at the age of 94. I never met Buck personally, but I still feel as though I had a connection with him. He always had a smile, was always willing to take time to meet anyone that came up to him, and had an unparalleled passion for baseball, love, learning, and life. (Here is Joe Posnanski's KC Star article)

AsReggie Jackson said, "What a fabulous human being. He was a blessing for all of us. I believe that people like Buck and Rachel Robinson and Martin Luther King and Mother Teresa are angels that walk on earth to give us all a greater understanding of what it means to be human. I'm not sad for him. He had a long, full life and I hope I'm as lucky, but I'm sad for us."

Buck, you will be missed, but not forgotten!

I don't have anything to add here except shame on the MLB voters who never elected Buck to Cooperstown in his lifetime. Something tells me next year his number is finally up.
